Double-dip on Saturday at the Fish Bowl; game one against UH at noon.

 

Classic DRS matchup: Jack Becker v. Nate Rost.

 

UH scored right away: Derek Masberg bunt single, Adam Giesen single, Conrad Masberg single, and then a Becker sac fly. Rost wiggled out of a bases loaded, one out jam, allowing only the one run.

 

Fish answered back: a walk and another Kyle "Teddy Ballgame" Bergstrom single, and then boom---Nick Rost, three-run big fly. Fish lead 4-0 after one.

 

UH pecked away. Rost kept them in check.

 

We managed only three hits in the game, but capitalized on walks, wild pitches, and a key UH error.

 

Rost with eight solid, Firpo comes in for the save.

In the second half of the double-header we took on the Warriors from Veseli.

 

Ahern took the pill for the Fish, squaring off against crafty DRS vet Matt Perkinson.

 

Fish scored first, plating one in the 2nd thanks to a Joe McKibben RBI single.

 

Veseli then took the lead in the 4th, scoring three on three hits and an error; the big blows were RBI doubles from Ben Doerr and Corey Friedges. Riley limited the damage, but Perk kept wiggling out of jams, too.

Never a moment of panic in the dugout, we all had good vibes when TNR stepped up to the plate in the 8th after a Spokes Lyden single. The crack of the bat brought us all to our feet, and the ball disappearing over the center field fence kept us there. Two-run slow trot to tie it up; clutch, Big Fella.

 

But we weren't done. Ni. Rost and Firpo followed with singles, and then Kibs drove in the go-ahead run with his third knock of the game. Atta Kibs!

 

4-3 Fish after eight complete.

 

Firpo came in again to shut it down, this time going two inning to pick up the W in relief.

 

Some savvy managing by New Market Muskies Baseball Manager Coach Todd Bergstrom allowed us to quash a Veseli rally in 9th, and that was that.
