Muskies Earn Two Victories over the Weekend
6/20/2016

In a rain-shortened game in Shakopee on Friday night the Muskies held on for a 9-4 victory.

A. Henkemeyer squared off against Cody Pamperin, and it was a pitcher's duel for the early part of the game.

The Fish broke open the scoring in the 3rd thanks to RBI singles from Lyden, A. Henkemeyer, and Na. Rost. Shako answered back with a few of their own and after 3 the score was 3-2 in favor of the Muskies.

D. Bergstrom came in for relief after Henky pitched three solid innings. The Lanky Left got into a wee bit of trouble, but managed to keep the damage to a minimum. The game turned in the 5th when the Fish plated six runs, the highligh being an absolute lazer beam by A. Henkemeyer over the 375' sign in center field (and it looked like he hit it off his front foot, just sayin'...).

DB shut the door, the ump called it after six because of rain.

On Father's Day we took on your Veseli Warriors at the Fish Bowl. And this one had the makings of a close game for a few innings as well, until it didn't.

Brett Herber took the Hill for the Fish, having gotten the day off from slinging men's apparel at some outlet mall, and had himself a day, both on the mound and at the plate.

Na. Rost hit another grand salami in the first inning, brining his RBI total to an absurd 39 on the season, which according to my calculations is one away from tying the record of 40 he himself set last year.

We also had a five-run 3rd and a seven-run 6th. Five total dingers for the fellas today: two from A. Henkemeyer, one from Na. Rost, B. Herber, and P. Holmstrom's first ever slow trot in a Muskies getup.

As a little sidebar, one of my favorite story lines of the season so far is the friendly little Maris/Mantle home run competition brewing between our third and fourth hitters, A. Henkemeyer and Na. Rost. With his two big flies yesterday, Henky pulled out to a narrow 10-9 lead, but if you, dear readers, have learned one thing from these game recaps, I hope it's this: don't underestimate TNR. Just don't do it. Personally, I hope they both end up with 32 bombs apiece, but that's just me. Either way, sure is fun to watch!
