Extra Inning Loss to St. Benedict Leaves the Fish with the #4 Seed Coming Out of Region 3C
8/10/2014

In their first seeding game after clinching a spot in the State Tourney earlier in the week, the Muskies drop a close game to St. Benedict in 11 innings. The Fish got after it early, but lead off hitter Stewart, after drawing a walk to start the game, was thrown out at home on a first and third double steal attempt. K. Bergstrom subsequently singled in Lyden, giving the Fish a 1-0 lead after one inning, but that was the only run the Fish would push across.

Parker Holmstrom was fantastic for New Market: he went seven strong innings, and gave up only a single run---love having these talented young kids on the team.

The Fish had a chance to wiggle out of a jam in the 11th, but the Saints capitalized on a fielding error and pushed across three in the frame. Scott Lyden takes the tough luck loss, and the Fish are saddled with the #4 seed coming out of Region 3.

Faribault won the Region championship, St. Patrick will be the #2, and St. Benedict the #3.

Unlike last year when we won the Region 3 championship and earned a bye, we won't have to wait two weeks to play: we take on the Mora Blue Devils this coming Saturday, August 16 at 11am in Jordan.

Also, the Muskies would like to welcome their three draftees to the team: Ben Morrison and Brad Schoenrock from Prior Lake, and Mike Flicek from Montgomery. Happy to have you gentlemen!
