Muskies Wrap up DRS League Championship Behind Rost's Dominant Pitching Performance
7/16/2014

Hello Muskie fans! Congrats to the New Market Muskies, who, for the third* season in a row, will end the year with the best record in the DRS thanks to their win last night in Veseli behind an absolutely dominant pitching performance by The Nate Rost. The Big Fella struck out sixteen batters, allowing only two hits and walking zero---all of this while throwing only 114 pitches.

Yeah, that guy.

It took the offense a minute to get going, but eventually it did. We can attribute this to not having played a ball game in a week. But the Muskies would also like to tip the cap to the Veseli starter, Casey Berens, for keeping us off balance for the better part of five innings.

New Market broke the nil-nil tie in the fifth after lead off hitter Stewart reached on what has been ruled an error. But let the record show, that while he is accepting the official ruling, he is also unofficially protesting it, as he is 100% he would have beat it out even if the Veseli shortstop had made a good throw. How do I know this? I just do, m'kay. Anyway, Stewart eventually came around to score on a Nick Rost single, and Nick Rost came around to score on a Nate Rost single. 2-0 Fish after five.

Three more would score in the 6th. This time, thanks to, once again, another Stewart ball that was hit in the gap, dropped, and subsequently ruled an error, which was then followed by Ballantyne and Nick Rost RBI singles.

There were a few more runs. And then the ball game ended. Solid defense all night. No one was ejected.

Harry Ballantyne, Nick Rost, and Nate Rost all had multiple hit games. Stewart scored three times. T. Bergstrom walked thrice. K. Bergstrom had two big sac flies.

But the Fish aren't satisfied with winning the DRS regular season title, there is still lots of work left to do. Two games left before playoffs begin. Exhibition against New Ulm on Saturday, and last game of the DRS regular season on Sunday against Montgomery. Both in New Market, both at 2pm. I'll post the playoff schedule as soon as it is made available.
