Well, that wasn't exactly how I saw the game playing out, but we'll take it.
After facing just four batters in the 1st inning, Faribault starter Egan Bonde had a tough time getting outs. The scoring got underway in the 2nd, with an RBI single from "Frida" Firpo and a two-RBI double from Brett "The Hitman" Herber.
The next inning we would plate eight more runs, the big blow coming from the bat of big time slugger Squeak Bergstrom, whose four-run tater was his second slow trot in as many games. Guy has been finding a lot barrels lately...
The entire boxscore is basically a highlight, so for the sake of brevity here are the guys who had multiple hits: Phyle, Lyden, Vocca, Henkemeyer, Na. Rost (that's 1-5 in the order), Firpo, and Herber. All the starters had at least one knock.
And what rhymes with knock? Vocc. As in, Tony Vocca. Dude was stellar on the bump: six innings, three hits, one walk, and five punch outs. DB threw a scoreless 7th, because that's what the Lanky Lefty does.
With that win, we officially punch our ticket to the 2019 State Tournament (#mbastate19).
Still some work to do, though. Seeya in New Market on Sunday as we take on St. Patrick in an important seeding game. Contest begins at 1:00 PM sharp. Sunday reds. Webby out.
