Bats Wake Up, Fish Win First Game of Regions
7/30/2019

The rained stayed away just long enough Sunday afternoon for us to play a Region 3C game against the Aces of Lonsdale. Na. Rost v. Sabal; classic DRS matchup.

The score pretty much tells the story here: top to bottom, our hitters were on; TNR threw a two-hit CG gem.

A few highlights:

Have a day Tony Vocca. After driving all night from somewhere in middle America to get to the park, TV wipes the sleep from his eyes and goes 3-3 with three RBI, a dong, and two walks to boot.

The Zookeeper leaves the zoo again. Ni. Rost got the scoring started for the Fish in the 2nd with a laser beam over the center field fence. Luckily there wasn't a giraffe playing in CF (although the Lonsdale center fielder made a few dandy plays, not the least of which was a diving catch to rob Squeak Bergstrom of what would have been his first of three knocks on the day).

TNR was TNR. Now that's The Nate Rost we all know. 89 pitches over seven innings, six strikeouts, and only two hits (one of which was a solo homer by Lonsdale right fielder Zach Breedan). TNR also had three hits on the afternoon, no big deal.

DP continues to set the table. #8 reached safely three more times, just what you want from a leadoff hitter; fun to watch.

Tyler Bergstrom hits a walk-off. With two on in the bottom of the 7th, Squeak hits something close to a no-doubter to put the Fish up by 11 thereby putting the 10-run rule into effect, sounding the horns, and giving everyone a chance to sing along with some John Denver.

Solid team effort.

We take on Faribault tonight in Veseli at 7:30 PM with a State berth on the line. Hope to seeya there. El Webby out.
